The Sherman Residence is wonderful remodel of a 1960’s gem settled in the Moorings community within the neighborhood of Coconut Grove. The original single story residence is boasting with wood details and features a structural roof made from 2x’s. Supported by only a few bearing walls, the house literally invites the outside in with removed floors and enclosed patios.
The renovation will focus on bringing more light and controlling the border between inside and out while connecting the building to its site. Clean lines and Florida modern are the guiding direction from the owner. SEA will incorporate many sustainable features, such as LED lighting, non toxic cabinetry and finishes, a terrazzo floor and updated energy efficiency for the entire building envelope (doors, windows, walls and roof). The project team is also looking into possible Solar applications for the pool and overall energy consumption.
